WALK A MILE IN MY SHOES

ART. COMMUNITY. DIGNITY. OPPORTUNITY.

 

A countywide participatory art initiative inspired by the San Diego Art Prize, bringing together artists, students, schools, cultural institutions, corporations, and communities.

 

Participants transform shoes into artworks inspired by San Diego Art Prize artists, creating messages of encouragement and hope for the people who will eventually receive them. The shoes culminate in The Field of Shoes, a large-scale public installation, before being distributed to underserved communities.

A COUNTYWIDE PUBLIC ART EXPERIENCE

In late 2027, Walk a Mile in My Shoes will be installed throughout San Diego County as part of the San Diego Visual Arts Network's 20th Anniversary celebration.

​

The project brings contemporary art out of the gallery and into public spaces and communities across the County—creating a highly visible celebration of art, participation, and community connection.
